We
are trying to develop an educational product which helps build a truly
digital school, where students are not only taught about computers but are
able to apply technology in their everyday life. While in the west the
benefits of deploying Intranets in Schools and College Campuses is a well
established trend, in India even in the elite schools, there is no system
to utilize the benefits of cutting edge web based technologies easily
available today. For most schools in India computers on a network having a
rudimentary bandwidth for sharing Internet access remains a distant dream.
Web-based teaching methods can really be a way to optimizing the scarce
resources of schools. Our mission is to make the Internet part of an
average student's everyday life, and for that an effective methodology has
to be created within the constraints of the available infrastructure.
Teaching outdated technologies without any relevance is the worst possible
way to welcome the new

millennium. With technology available to create
virtual classrooms it is possible for education to leap the barriers of
time space and class, with quality education available for all. In fact
our vision for the new millennium is to empower all students in India
specially those coming from underprivileged backgrounds, with “digital
tools” enabling them to ultimately create wealth and prosperity for
their nation.
We
have a firm belief that computer literacy is the only means to progress if
India and our future generations have to get out of our current morass of
poverty. To introduce students to real life computing and illustrate to
them the practical benefits of IT we want to put cutting edge internet
technology to work through a state of the Art Network, incorporating a

iSchool2000 is Wondersoft's solution to wire educational institutions.

involved, iSchool2000 uses Red Hat Linux 6.1 operating
system and MySQL Server. In fact iSchool-2000 is an highly affordable ERP
solution and it can be modified to suit normal business functions. We
strongly believe that Open Source is the biggest enabler of this New
Economy. Some day, even a normal, cash starved Indian High School can
seriously think about having
a school intranet .
Comprehensive
iSchool2000 covers all sides of the educational business-including a
full-fledged and easy to use Administration Facility. As we said earlier
it has an extremely affordable and useful ERP package too, which makes
managing activities ranging from admission to financial accounting, Human
Resource Management, timetable management , easy.. The interface is
intuitive and very easy to grasp.

pre-configured for facilities like
Voice chat- imagine the teacher interacting with his/her students and
with their parents too. Better still, imagine him/her having a live video
conference with them. All you would need is the required hardware. You can
also manage the student's detailed progress report-grades, examination
marks, teachers' evaluation, health file, counselor's report and more. Students and teachers can log in from home and post their ideas, take out
individual home pages, publish house magazines electronically, take part
in discussions and be part of user-groups formed for various subjects.
They can fill in forms and applications electronically, research projects on the
net and get access to Multimedia CD ROMS through the online library on a
CD ROM Server and give and get online results for exams. One can
also access chapters of textbooks online or worksheets done in the School

generated a strong support at The India Internet World-1999 from Venture

Journalists, ISPs, government officials, students and teachers. It also
got trade enquiries from schools in the Middle East and South East Asia.
